The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the basics of statistical data management using Microsoft Excel and the STATA programs. A combined lecture and lab format will allow students to work individually with a faculty member on real-world datasets. Topics covered will include the creation, manipulation, and management of datasets, the importance of data cleaning procedures, and commands to produce basic descriptive statistics using Excel and State program.
