This final and more open-ended module explores music in and of modern East Asia in all its gloriously diverse manifestations.

The core assignment of the module is a second critical summary. You should, by this point, be researching potential scholarly sources on one or more topics of interest relating to the broad Topic Categories of music in and of modern East Asia. In other words, the summary builds on the bibliographic research you and your peers have been conducting.

As you finalize your topic and choice of source, we will again turn to the required texts to acquaint ourselves with the issues you will explore in more depth through your critical summaries. As you complete your summaries, we will also explore audio-video examples.

The module culminates in discussion sessions, for which you will read and discuss each other's critical summaries.
