Students with Disabilities
It is important that to us that everyone enrolled in CS 1110 has access to and can participate in the course. If you have or think you may have a disability, please contact Student Disability Services (SDS) for a confidential discussion. If you experience any access barriers in this course, please reach out to your professors (cs1110-prof@cornell.edu) or SDS right away.
So that there is adequate time to arrange your SDS-approved academic accommodations, please request your accommodation letter no later than the Add deadline for the semester. Or, if you are approved for accommodations later in the semester, request your accommodation letter as soon as possible. It will be emailed to you, the professors, and our course support specialist. After it is received, our course support specialist will reply with a summary of how your accommodations will be implemented in this course. Please follow-up to that email to discuss any further needs.
Exam Accommodations are implemented by SDS's Alternative Testing Program (ATP) rather than by CS 1110 course staff. ATP will schedule your exam in a separate testing location and potentially at a different time than the in-class exam. For any questions about how your ATP accommodations will be implemented, please contact sds-testing@cornell.edu [website: http://sds.cornell.edu]; CS 1110 course staff (including the professors) do not have the details to answer those questions.
- If your accommodations include computer use on exams, you must contact SDS to reserve a laptop at least one week before the exam; you are not permitted to use a personal laptop. Note that CS 1110 exams do not entail long essay responses and may require drawing diagrams, so handwritten responses may be viable and preferable for some students.
- If you believe you have exam accommodations but your CS 1110 exam room assignment contradicts that, you must contact SDS/ATP to ascertain why your exam accommodations were not activated in this course. The usual reason is that you did not request to have them activated; you must do that for each course and each semester. If SDS/ATP can make an exception for you and accommodate you in an immediately upcoming exam, that's great; but if not, CS 1110 will not be able to implement the accommodation, as SDS/ATP itself is responsible for implementing all exam accommodations in this course this semester.
Lecture Accommodations: If you have an accommodation that has to do with the lecture (you need a particular seat or require that the professor wear a particular mic), please email cs1110-prof@cornell.edu to make us aware of your needs.
